and i don't even care, to shake these zipper blues

And I don’t even care to shake these zipper blues
And we don’t know
Just where our bones will rest
To dust I guess
Forgotten and absorbed

into the earth below

back to my old style: musical reference & summary of recent activities (office project, brewing, house project, cats). who’s that on the iPod?

if you said the smashing pumpkins, you’d be half right. i recently purchased from the iTunes Music Store an exclusive set of music by rob thomas (of matchbox twenty) one of which was a cover of “1979” by the aforementioned pumpkins. very nice arrangement, devoid of the noise that shrouds the pumpkins version. i think the tender and quiet parts lend more power to the lyrics, than the pumpkins glam/noise version. but that’s just my opinion.

so what’s going on? here’s the summary.

office project: on hold while the office serves as a ringworm quarantine area for our cats.

brewing: just brewed a Scotch Ale and a Belgian Saison Ale. will have much bottling to do in the next week or so.

house project: if there was just one mega-project – is still underway. we got some good weather last weekend so we got out and did some work. carrie concentrated on the plants and weeding, i finally removed the 6″x6″ timbers that someone had crudely fashioned to the roof of our porch to support a hanging swing. funny – someone put 80lbs of wood over their head, secured it with a scant 8 screws that were poorly anchored, then suspended their body weight from it. amazing.

cats: nora is out of quarantine; her fur is growing back in the affected areas (no longer contagious) and she’s a week away from the last dose of her ringworm medication. falcon is still in quarantine, but his e-collar is off. he’s pretty happy about that. kelly is still in quarantine.

okay, up to speed. i promise something less utilitarian and perhaps even more frivolous next time, okay?
