Wright in Buffalo

there’s been a lot of buzz recently, and for good reason, about frank lloyd wright’s work in buffalo. while the number of structures pales compared to oak park or chicago, you can see exactly how wright’s brilliance evolved when he had the opportunity of working for a patron who was both highly respected by wright, and highly supportive of him — both creatively and economically.

prariemod mentioned this recently and has been keeping an eye on the ongoing re-creation/restoration of the darwin martin house.

a refreshing change

this weekend, in addition to the usual home improvement and homework activities, we decided we needed a break from everything, and took a quick 1/2 day jaunt up to Bellingham, WA.

1/3 of a long weekend spent on the house

last weekend we had one amazing day of weather (saturday). like, upper 60s and sunny. i took advantage of this to clean up the yard, re-cut some landscape edges, do some random work in the front. but the big news, is that i smashed my finger with a hammer.
