i'm not angry anymore

one of my favorites, matchbox twenty on the ipod.

so, what’s new?

well, we’ve been busy. as you could imagine. i recently had a big software release at work, that went well. the front yard project is coming together, as you can see. and i’ve been thinking…

i work hard to have what i have. and i’ve waited for a long time to be able to afford a house. this is what i like to do, this isn’t a bad place to be doing it. so why not?

what else is new?

not much, just working, working on the house. drinking good beer occasionally. oh! discovered that diamond knot has $2 pints on tuesday nights after 6. yow!

i think that’s all i got right now. tired. know that i’m still alive, and well. and busy. oh, so busy.

front yard project

stone’s done. i just have to get some fine gravel to lock them in.

and then someday — grass!

bonus points — out by the curb is moosie, our red F-150. and across the street is his buddy, a much nicer blue F-150 belonging to our neighbor. he’s a pretty boy, however. our moosie is tougher!

bedroom project

the bedroom is done.

in case anyone is wondering why i haven’t updated the website in a while … i’ve been busy.

here’s what we started out with, isn’t it lovely? the wainscoting was finished in-place, the berber carpet was … crusty, and that archaic fire alarm panel completes the look.

it begins…

we decide to take down the wainscoting. it was far too … ‘knotty’ for our tastes. unfortunately whomever installed it used several nails across the face of each board (instead of letting the tongue & groove do part of the work) so it was tough going, and destroyed the wood as we removed it.

broadway is dark tonight…

broadway is dark tonight
a little bit weaker than you used to be

broadway is dark tonight…

see the young man sittin’ in the old man’s bar
waitin’ for his turn to die.

the goo goo dolls on the ipod.

watched some of the goo goo dolls live in buffalo video tonight.

it really got me thinking. about where i come from, about buffalo. about how i left, and about how often i (don’t) get back.

step back

Appear and fade away,
so far so good and I’ll tell you the story this time.
Plan too far ahead, it’s the same old thing.
Finally kicking it out this time.

Step back, step back just suppose you’re where you’re supposed to be now.
Step back, step down off that pedestal and maybe you’ll see.

letters to cleo on the ipod.

so, what’s new?

well, you may have recognized my title passage from Letters to Cleo – a band from my former home of boston.

i guess all that “auld lang sine” is making me get all wistful and nostalgic. i’ve spent a week enjoying the music of my 20’s on the bus, and reflecting.

true love waits…

true love waits…
…in haunted attics.
and true love lives
on lolipops and crisps.

just don’t leave
…don’t leave.

radiohead on the iPod. it doesn’t get much better than that.

so, what’s new?

Midwest! Nina, Pinta, Santa Maria.

slow dancing on the boulevard…

slow dancing on the boulevard…
..in the quiet moments while the city’s still dark.

matchbox twenty on the ipod.

since it’s been a month, you’d expect i should have a lot to say. let’s see how much i remember.

so, what’s going on?

a little driving, a little drinking, a little dally, a little rally.

won't it be dull…

won’t it be dull, when we rid ourselves
of all these demons haunting us,
to keep us company?

won’t it be odd to be happy like we
always thought we’re s’posed to feel,
but never seem to be?

the BareNaked Ladies on the iPod.

so, what’s new?

Cats, Cats, and Cats!

i found a reason for me …

… to change who i used to be …

hoobastank on the ipod.

as much as the poppy-punk ballads are a hit with the kids, the grammar and/or logic is atrocious. how do you change who you used to be, exactly? do you have a time machine?

everybody knows that if you have a time machine you should go back and give yourself information that helps you win bets in the future.

an even bigger question than how you change who you used to be is: why would you? who you used to be isn’t who you are anymore. the past is the past, try changing who you currently ARE or who you WILL BE SOMEDAY, perhaps.

*shrug* kids these days, don’t even know how to effectively use a time machine. you think they would have learned (from themselves, from the future, maybe). oh well.

anyhow, what’s new? well…

kittens, autocross and thunder, oh my!

we can dance if we want to…

… we can leave your friends behind.

darn, i’ve had that song stuck in my head all day. not because i’ve been listening to my 80’s megamixes on the iPod, but because i recently watched the “80’s Guy” episode of Futurama (3ACV21: Futurestock).

so, what’s new?

Hot, Hot, Hot! BeerFest! and Movin’ Out!
