mike & carrie in the snow

carrie & i went up to the Big 4 meadow today. that’s one of our favorite destinations, and this time didn’t disappoint. snow snow snow!

you obviously couldn’t see the mountains in the distance, but we’d seen that before. today, we wanted snow. and we got it!

here’s the rest of the flickr photoset:

i bought the broadarrow diver’s watch on ebay, then found the matching PVD bracelet for it at The Watch Prince.

bottles everywhere

homebrewers, or alcoholics?

that would be “homebrewers.” 5 points!

photo of bottles

(i know, it might be both.)

we bottled 5 gallons tonight.

falcon

so, as most people who know me would be aware, we foster kittens. we’ve had probably close to 200 foster kittens through our home. we volunteer for a non-profit, no-kill animal shelter in arlington, wa called Purrfect Pals.

we recently fostered a group of 8 kittens. carrie got to name them — and what she came up with quickly were naming the boys after fords, and the girls after chevrolets.

one of the boys, pictured here, is “falcon.” falcon is currently … “auditioning.” we think he may make a good addition to our home. (how far he is through the “auditioning” process depends on who you ask, and how cheeky i’m acting when i reply.)

moosie gets some attention

in lieu of getting my focus suspension install completed (short answer: needed to replace parts i didn’t expect to replace) i decided to take part of my columbus day to work on the truck.

moosie got new spark plugs and an oil/filter change. yes, quite exciting, i know.

also we discovered that the truck (longbed F-150) will fit entirely within the garage. that’s good to know — we intend to rebuild the garage next year, and are bound by building codes to make it precisely the same size as the existing one. so the new one will accomodate a full-size pickup as well.

32

32 is a batch of beer that carrie brewed up for my birthday. it’s an India Pale Ale recipe, with a few modifications (which are a secret, even to me).

an update: it just went from primary to secondary fermenter, with an gravity drop from 1.083 to 1.020. if you’re playing along at home, that’s an ABV of 8.332%! yow, looks like we’ll be putting this exclusively into 12oz bottles.

will report again in a few weeks with the finishing gravity.

bloggy-bloggy blippos!

picture of hungry-hungry hippos gamewith all the blogging companies being bought up by major media companies, i thought i’d throw my hat into the ring.

my one lonely blog is not worth 25 or 40 million dollars, but i’d entertain the idea of being acquired by an enormous company with deep pockets.

i promise that i would then write favorably about whatever product and/or service you’re foisting upon the public. even if it has nothing to do with my daily life.

also, i will put hotlinks to your website from mine, thereby increasing my street credbility and also your pagerank score with google (at least infinitesimally, in theory).
